Frequency converter


A frequency converter is a device that controls the speed of an electronic motor. It is also called inverter, the frequency converter performs many functions: reducing energy consumption, reducing mechanical stress on motor control applications, optimizing several applications that depend on electric motors, generating efficient and sustainable energy. Inverters indeed can produce energy from natural and renewable resources such as solar, wind and tidal energy.

A frequency converter outputs a change in the frequency of a periodic input signal. The standard model COMBIVERT F5 regulates and controls the speed of motors whose heavy cycles reach up to 900 kW: it is the most suitable solution for AC induction motors and synchronous servomotors. The modular software meets the highest demands in terms of speed, torque and starting torque with or without feedback encoder. COMBIVERT F5 is configurated via operator or diagnostic interface. A programming software is available to facilitate commissioning and assistance.

There are two versions of the COMBIVERT F5 on sale:

F5 COMPACT – an open loop inverter with extended I/O and power up to 90 kW
F5 MULTI – for closed loop inverters, with control and regulation according to the “All in one” principle. For applications up to 900 kW.

Label Checker is a label quality control system, a machine designed with OCR technology (optical character recognition), with multifunctional and specific purposes of printing labels. Its mechanism is practical and compact, multifunctional at the same time. Thanks to its advanced tools, Label Checker reviews both printed texts, barcodes and two-dimensional codes (2D), the correct position of labels and pictograms, the printing quality according to the various labelling needs. Other specific features of the Label Checker are providing image filters, segmenting overlapping characters and calibrating the images. These operations guarantee a reliable performance even for different packaging uses. Therefore Label Checker guarantees high productivity standards, thanks to multiple checks at the same time and to the excellent quality of the results.

The development of Industry 4.0 has considerably spread the use of industrial robotic automation systems, making them affordable even for small companies.

The European Parliament has approved the right to repair

The European Parliament has approved the right to repair: it will become law.

In the countries of the European Union, manufacturers of electronic devices will be required to specify the repairability index and the estimated life of their devices already at the time of purchase, by applying an appropriate label.

All too often it is preferred to permanently get rid of an electronic device rather than try to repair it. Thus, the old devices dangerously are piling up on the huge mountain of WEEE waste that is constantly growing every year and consumers, also thanks to the attitude shared by many producers, prefer to buy a new device: Right to repair in Europe from 2021, to reduce electronic waste.

Today the European Parliament voted in favour of approving a new regulation that will impose a series of obligations on manufacturers of electronic devices.

The most important fulfilment is certainly the use of a label that manufacturers will have to display on all devices placed on the market: this labelling will report the “repairability score” of a product, specifying what hardware problems users can solve on their own or by contacting specialised centres.

The label must also clarify the estimated life of the device at the time of purchase by the final consumer. A measure that according to the legislator should put an end to the habit of some manufacturers who use planned obsolescence to establish an “artificial expiration date” of their equipment, not motivated by any actual wear of the hardware components.

With today’s resolution, the European Union made a landmark decision and sets a milestone that will certainly be remembered in the coming years.

It is in fact a strong stance that also aims to change the attitude of end users, who are sometimes overly inclined to set aside electronic devices that might still work

79% of the European citizens interviewed in a survey said they were in favour of the introduction of the right to repair, believing that manufacturers should be legally obliged to facilitate the repair of devices or, in any case, the replacement of individual parts.
